Phuket Pride
About This Event
Phuket Pride has been around since 1999, making it one of Asia's older pride events. It started when Poonsak 'Dang' Sanchan, owner of the Boat Bar in Patong, convinced other gay business owners to support a festival inspired by parties Singapore's gay community had thrown on the island.
For years, it was a four-day party in Patong, run by bar owners and ending with a parade and a beach party, with proceeds going to local HIV charities. It took a few years off - it didn't happen in 2018 or 2019, and the 2021 edition was billed as a return after a three-year hiatus.
Now, it's a week-long event in early June, organized by the Andaman Power Association Phuket, with Patong Municipality and provincial officials on board. The schedule includes a Pride talk, the Miss Queen Andaman Power pageant, and shows at Simon Cabaret and Jungceylon mall. It all wraps up with a Sunday parade along the Patong beachfront to a main stage near Bangla Road. In 2025, the parade went ahead despite heavy rain on June 8, led by Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam.
The 2026 event was set for June 1-7, with the parade on June 7 and the theme 'Be Loud, Be Proud, Be You'.
Phuket City Pride, a separate event, marched through Phuket Old Town on June 27, 2026, with the theme 'We are ONE'. InterPride is holding its annual conference and World Conference in Phuket from October 26 to 31, 2026.
As of our last check, the 2027 dates hadn't been announced.
