Behind it stands a real organization network: Fundasaun CODIVA (the country's first LGBTI org), Hatutan, Arcoiris Timor-Leste for LBT women and trans people, and Even2u. Time your trip to the march if you can — there is nothing else like it between Taipei and Sydney.

Where the evenings happen

No gay venues — the scene socializes through the org network and Dili's beachfront circuit: Castaway Bar on the esplanade (THE expat, UN and NGO hangout, live music Fridays), the Sky Bar happy hour at Timor Plaza (Fridays 5-8pm), and the beach huts toward Areia Branca. All mixed, all easy.

Small-capital rules: modest grid, discreet local profiles, an internationally-minded NGO-worker layer that's easier to meet. Introductions through the community beat cold messages.
