São Paulo's Gay Saunas: One of the World's Biggest Scenes
São Paulo has one of the largest gay sauna scenes of any city on earth. Here the sauna (sauna gay / termas) is a central, mainstream part of gay life rather than an afterthought — legal, regulated, and busy from mid-afternoon into the early hours. They range from big, entertainment-driven complexes with bars and shows to traditional, no-frills bathhouses. Bring or rent a towel, use the lockers, and expect an entrance fee that covers the facilities.
Le Rouge 80 — Pinheiros flagship
A long-established, upscale sauna in Pinheiros with a large multi-level layout, heated pools, and darkrooms. Widely regarded as the city's premier bathhouse.
Wild Thermas Club — Higienópolis
A well-known Higienópolis venue that has run for two decades, hosting its own themed parties and events alongside the usual sauna facilities.
Hot Thermas Club — República / Centro
One of the largest saunas in central São Paulo, spread over several floors near the República downtown, recently reopened and popular with a mixed local crowd.
Espaco Lagoa — Consolação
A lively Consolação venue that combines a sauna with a bar and regular entertainment, including drag and party nights — a good option if you want atmosphere as well as the wet areas.
Termas Fragata — near the Jardins
A traditional bathhouse near the Jardins with a steady, mature following. Long-running and centrally located.

- Sauna Ricardo Jafet — a neighbourhood bathhouse on Avenida Ricardo Jafet in Ipiranga.
- Sauna Penha — a relaxed, social bathhouse in the eastern Penha district, away from the tourist circuit.
Practical tips
Most saunas open from the late afternoon and run late. Standards of hygiene at the main venues are generally good; bring a small lock if you want extra security. Dress is typically towel-only in the wet areas. As with any night out in a big city, keep an eye on your belongings and use app-based transport to get home.
