What reviewers say

Some visitors praise the food, especially the Kaiserschmarr'n, and appreciate that it's a non-smoking establishment. However, multiple reviews highlight issues with extremely slow and unorganized service, with some also reporting rude staff and disappointing food quality for the price.

About this place Goldener Spiegel

At 1 Stiegengasse, this was an elegant gay bar and restaurant, just off the main drag of Vienna’s scene.

It was a popular spot for eating, drinking, and just seeing people. The kitchen did vegetarian food, but also Wiener schnitzel and other Viennese classics. So, it worked for most everyone, whether you wanted something familiar or something a little different, and the atmosphere was always welcoming. It was a good place for a meal, a drink, or just to meet up with friends.

This spot is currently closed. For other LGBTQ+-friendly places in Vienna, check our current listings. The city’s gay scene is still going strong, with plenty of bars, clubs, and restaurants all over town.

The food is just excellent! A very nice restaurant, with the best "Kaiserschmarr'n" I've ever had. And, it is a NON SMOKING restaurant, what is pretty hard to find in Vienna!

Granted i only went during the week, this place shows a great lack of any kind of action. Bartenders are super sweet, but if you don't want to be the only person in the bar, don't go Monday thru Thursday.

The bar is nice and okay. The food is a disaster. Rude staff who immediately make you feel like you're bothering them. And that's every time you go to your table! Food: Outrageous to awful! There's a world of difference between the price and the quality! For example, the pepper steak tastes only of cheap, ready-made sauce, the croquettes (5 of them!) are still mealy and inedible, garnish? That awful sauce is good for. Bon appétit! In general, the portion sizes are rather small. So you're better off bringing your own food!

Nice place. Nice people. But the music was terrible. It was just hip hop playing the whole time. One song is okay. But being so aggressive and pushy will quickly scare away your customers. It just doesn't suit the bar.
