The honest summary: Vienna's gay bar scene is smaller than older guides suggest. Mango Bar, Felixx, Schik Bar and Kisss Bar have all closed in the past two years; the Falter wrote in June 2026 that the city's gay bars were closing "one after another". The ones that remain are mostly small, friendly and close together around the Naschmarkt. This page lists what was confirmed open in October 2026, based on Patroc's current listings, wien.info, 1000things and the venues' own sites.

Naschmarkt: Mariahilf, Wieden and Margareten

This is where to start. Everything here is within about ten minutes' walk of U4 Kettenbrückengasse.

    • Café Savoy, Linke Wienzeile 36: a high-ceilinged Habsburg-era coffeehouse with mirrors and chandeliers. It's mixed in the daytime and gets gayer after dark. It's a good place for a first drink and runs a monthly Sunday brunch.
    • Village Bar, Stiegengasse 8: a modern bar with a big video wall and pop music, drawing a younger crowd that fills up on weekends.
    • Marea Alta, Gumpendorfer Straße 28: a small queer bar that started out lesbian and now draws a mixed crowd. There's karaoke and drag, plus the cellar dance nights listed as Hot Disco Nights.
    • The Hive, Magdalenenstraße 2: a café-bar in the old RedCarpet space, with a cellar for later nights. The LGBTQ+ Friends Vienna Meetup group holds its monthly get-togethers here.
    • Villa Vida, Linke Wienzeile 102: the café of the Türkis Rosa Lila Villa. It's a community space more than a bar, with drag bingo, pub quizzes, drag brunch, sapphic and nonbinary meetups and the Thursday FreiRäumchen.
    • Pride & Pleasure, Schikanedergasse 5: opened in September 2026 on the former Schik Bar site, with long hours into the early morning. It's new, so check before a late visit.
    • Cafe Rifugio, Schönbrunner Straße 10: a small café-bar for an afternoon or early-evening drink.
    • Raymond's, Stumpergasse 2A: a low-key neighbourhood bar near Westbahnhof.

    Leather and cruising bars

    • Eagle Vienna, Blümelgasse 1: the leather and fetish bar, a cellar with a darkroom maze. It opens Friday and Saturday 21:00–04:00 and has a dress code on themed nights. The eagle-vienna.com domain no longer belongs to the bar, so use its social channels instead.
    • Sling, Kettenbrückengasse 4: a cruising bar open daily from the afternoon until late, with a bar in front and play areas behind. Entry is free on most nights.
    • HARD ON (LMC Vienna) (LMC Vienna's clubhouse) and F56 – FFIFTYSIX are cruise clubs rather than bars. See the cruising guide.

    Innere Stadt: Tiefer Graben

    • Why Not, Tiefer Graben 22: the oldest gay club in town, a basement with a bar and dancefloor playing chart, pop and house. It opens Friday and Saturday from 22:00 until late and runs a queer karaoke night some Sundays.
    • City Bar Vienna, Tiefer Graben 19: a small cocktail bar for the weekend, just across the street.

    Neubau (7th district)

    • Augenblick, Schottenfeldgasse 92: a gay-friendly café-bar that works by day and in the evening.
    • Binter, Seidengasse 31: an East-Tyrolean resto-bar that hosts drag bingo.
    • Café Roza, Burggasse 44: a queer-feminist café and bar for FLINTA and queer guests, with Friday bar nights. Hours are posted on Instagram.
    • DUAL CLUB, Burggasse 70: a small underground club, Friday and Saturday 23:00–04:00. It's mixed rather than a gay club, so check what's on.

Party nights in other venues

A lot of Vienna's gay nightlife is roaming parties rather than fixed bars. Club Titanic on Theobaldgasse hosts Pitbull, the monthly Saturday bear party. Camera Club (Neubaugasse 2) has Ken Club and PiNKED. Grelle Forelle has FPlus, The Loft on the Gürtel has Männer im Loft, and Ramien has BallCanCan. Check Patroc's club calendar for the current month.

Closed: don't go looking

Mango Bar (closed early 2026), Felixx, Kisss Bar, Schik Bar (now Pride & Pleasure), X-Bar, Café Berg (2017) and Café Willendorf (now Villa Vida) are all gone. Inside Bar, CHERI and Café Rüdiger still turn up in old listings, but we found no current trace of them as gay bars. Flinte (Lange Gasse 11, the old Frauencafé) showed as temporarily closed in October 2026.

Practical notes

Bars fill after 22:00, and several are open only at weekends. Prices are moderate for Western Europe, and a Spritzer is the cheap default. Some smaller places prefer cash. For the wider picture, see the Gay Vienna Guide.
