About this place Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers

The Fairmont Baku is located in one of the three Flame Towers — the landmark glass skyscrapers clad in LED panels that have become the defining image of modern Baku's skyline — making it simultaneously one of the most architecturally dramatic hotel locations in the former Soviet space and the most reliably safe accommodation option for LGBTQ+ travellers in Azerbaijan. As a property operated under the Accor Group umbrella, the Fairmont Baku applies the group's non-discrimination standards across its operations. Staff are trained to international hospitality norms; same-sex couples checking in will encounter no differential treatment at reception, in the restaurant, or in any other public space of the hotel. The property exists in a different operating environment from the surrounding city: an international five-star hotel in a country dependent on foreign business investment is structurally motivated to apply international standards, and the Fairmont's management has done so consistently. The hotel offers what is effectively an extraterritorial safe zone within Baku. Within the building — in your room, in the restaurants, in the spa and fitness facilities — the hostile social environment of Azerbaijan does not follow you. This matters more in Baku than in almost any other European-adjacent destination. Practical notes: rooms offer panoramic Caspian Sea views from the elevated position in the Flame Towers; the Atrium Lounge is a central gathering point for international guests; the rooftop pool has views across the old city and waterfront. The hotel is 15 minutes by Bolt from the old city and Fountain Square. For LGBTQ+ travellers, the additional cost of staying here relative to local hotels is fully justified by the security it provides.

Visiting the Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers with my family felt like stepping into one of the most iconic symbols of modern Azerbaijan. From the moment we approached the towers, their striking, flame-shaped design stood out against the skyline, especially as the glass exterior reflected the changing light throughout the day. It created a sense of anticipation even before we walked inside. The interior matched that first impression. The lobby was spacious and elegant, with a clean, modern aesthetic that didn’t feel overdone. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were welcoming without being overly formal, which made the experience feel comfortable for a family stay rather than just a luxury visit. Our room was one of the highlights. Large windows offered an incredible panoramic view of Baku, including the Caspian Sea and the city’s mix of old and new architecture. Watching the city lights come on in the evening, especially with the Flame Towers’ LED displays lighting up the night, was something we all enjoyed together. It turned a simple moment into a memorable one. We also spent time exploring the hotel’s amenities. The indoor pool area was relaxing and well-maintained, and it gave us a chance to unwind after a day of walking around the city. The restaurants offered a good variety of food, and while the prices were on the higher side, the quality and presentation made it worthwhile for a special family outing. What stood out most was how the hotel balanced luxury with a welcoming atmosphere. It never felt too rigid or exclusive, which can sometimes be the case with high-end places. Instead, it felt like a place where you could genuinely relax and enjoy time with your family. Overall, visiting Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers was more than just staying at a hotel. It was an experience shaped by its unique architecture, stunning views, and comfortable environment. It left us with a strong impression of Baku as a city that blends modern ambition with a warm, inviting spirit.

I had an absolutely outstanding stay at the Fairmont in Baku and it deserves more than five stars. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. I landed very early in the morning, around 7:30am, and was greeted at reception by Shahriyar, who was nothing short of exceptional. He absolutely deserves recognition for the commitment he has to his guests. Without me even needing to ask—and despite the standard 3pm check-in time—he had my room ready immediately and arranged early access at no extra charge. He noted on his own accord thag I must be tired from my flight and made it his priority to expedite the check-in process which was no more than 5 minutes so I could rest as quickly as possible. That level of thoughtfulness truly stood out and I felt well taken care of. The room itself was incredible—extremely spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed, with a stunning view over the Caspian Sea. I genuinely could not fault the cleanliness at all; everything was pristine and perfectly maintained. Absolutely no flaws. What truly made this stay unforgettable, however, was the service. Every single staff member I encountered was warm, welcoming, and more than willing to help. I felt completely safe, looked after, and genuinely cared for throughout my stay. If I called reception for anything, it was at my door within 60 seconds—nothing was ever a problem for them. they were all respectful and mindful of their guests. On the day of my departure, another member of staff kindly arranged a complimentary late checkout, which I greatly appreciated. Shahriyar was again at the desk when I checked out, and he remained just as professional, gentle, kind, and attentive as when I first arrived. He offered to both print and email my invoice, provided me with a hard copy, and patiently went through all the charges with me. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I also want to highlight the incredible service at the spa on April 21. The staff there were absolutely exceptional. Although the café wasn’t open, they offered to bring me anything I wanted poolside—and they delivered on that promise in under five minutes, just as they said they would. They were gentle, kind, and highly professional, and I truly hope their manager recognises how outstanding they are. This hotel was honestly one of the highlights of my trip. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe and at ease—it was the perfect place to relax, switch off, and be taken care of while enjoying the beauty of Baku.

Right from Check-In to the last day we had a very pleasant stay with the hotel. Only one instance where it was felt the hotel could have helped us with the locals. The details to sustainable development in the hotel is great initiative. The spa amenities were amazing and to the global standards.
