We went for the Shah pilaf and we liked it very much. The live music was nice. The attention was excessive, so much so that it was disturbing for me. They kept asking if we liked it, and when we said we did (we hadn't even left the table yet), they rudely asked why we hadn't left a tip. I understood that this excessive attention was just to get a tip. After that attitude, I would have given up on tipping altogether. This excessive attention is common in many restaurants in Baku and it starts to become annoying after a while. Also, why add a 10% service charge and then expect a tip for liking the service, and to say it in such a rude manner???

Unfortunately, our experience fell short of our expectations. The meat we ordered as "kavurma" (a type of stew) was undercooked and very tough. The "gurza" (another type of stew) was like a dumpling, but the dough was quite thick and hard. The service was also disorganized. My biggest disappointment was the indifferent and rude behavior of the staff. The music was also very loud; I had difficulty hearing the person next to me. I'm sorry, but overall, the place didn't appeal to me at all. I think the staff should be a little more attentive to friendliness and politeness.
