The name is deliberately playful; the bar is deliberately unpretentious. The crowd is local and loyal — a mix of Brussels residents of all ages, EU workers who have found their local, and visitors working their way through the neighbourhood's bars. The beer selection reflects Belgium's extraordinary brewing culture: you will not find a bar in Brussels, gay or otherwise, that does not take Belgian beer seriously. Homo Erectus is the kind of bar where you come for one drink and stay for three, primarily because the conversation is good and nobody is trying to move you on. Well-placed for a Rue du Marché au Charbon bar crawl and accessible from the Grand-Place on foot.

Wandering around the city i happened across this cute little bar. The bar tender Alessandro was very attentive and provided a great service. Both he and the owner were lovely to talk to. A great atmosphere for a steady tuesday afternoon. Overall a great kitschy gay bar.
