About this place Le Belgica

Le Belgica sits directly on the Rue du Marché au Charbon — Brussels' principal gay street — and has built a reputation as one of the district's most socially comfortable venues. The bar draws a genuinely mixed crowd: gay men, lesbians, bisexual people, trans guests, and the kind of straight allies who have found their way into a gay neighbourhood bar and decided to stay. The atmosphere is conversational — not quiet, but not loud enough to prevent talking — and the bar feels like a proper local rather than a tourist destination, even though it sits on the street that visitors to Brussels' gay scene will inevitably find. The Rue du Marché au Charbon's character is defined by bars like Le Belgica: rooted in the neighbourhood, open to everyone, and not requiring any specific identity to enjoy. Belgian beers feature prominently, as they should.

Cool

This was a truly 90s style gay club. Happening music, happening drinks, and happening people ready to dance and truly get down. No wildflowers like you find today, this is truly a place with a serious vibrant vibe like in the old days.
