About this place Maison d'Artiste

Maison d'Artiste is a small guesthouse on Schoolstraat in Sint-Amandsberg (postcode 9040), a residential district just east of Ghent's historic centre. It is listed as gay-friendly, which means a mainstream guesthouse rather than a gay hotel, and the small number of Google reviews (26, rated 4.5) suggests a handful of rooms. The old town, Gravensteen and the canals are a short tram or bike ride away, and Ghent is compact enough that most visitors get around on foot or by bike. The city's few gay bars are in the centre. Check the website for current rooms, rates and check-in arrangements, which can be limited at small properties.

Ghent B&B, just outside the centre, rooms recently renovated, March 2026, look good, but not quite finished here and there (hooks, hot water, waste, drainage). Three rooms with varying amenities: hard bed / soft bed, with cooking/plates, or just cups and glasses; all three have a bathroom; sometimes a wide bed, sometimes a narrow one. Bakeries for breakfast around the corner, a half-hour walk to Ghent centre or take the city bus. Parking in the neighborhood is difficult but at the church on the square; renew every 24 hours, up to €4 per 24 hours.

Stylish room, friendly and helpful hostess, the bathtub was especially nice. However, the room was noisy both inside and out, there was no TV and no power outlet next to the bed (but I was given an extension cord upon request). The walk to the city center took about 20 to 25 minutes.

What a beautiful and relaxing B&B! A warm welcome, lots of great tips, and excellent service. Within walking distance of the town center, in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking and some lovely restaurants nearby. Highly recommended!
