After I left a less-than-stellar review of the hotel on Expedia, they're digging deeper. This speaks volumes about the hotel's standards.
I can only advise against staying here; the Superior Room is not worthy of a 4-star hotel. The shower in the bathroom is open, meaning the entire bathroom is flooded after showering. I even bought a squeegee to fix this problem.
Then, after four days, they removed the refrigerator from my room, for whatever reason.
The rooms were also unoccupied during my stay, which seems to be for a reason.
It's possible the other rooms are better, but €129 per night for a dark hole that calls itself a Superior Room is unacceptable.
Update from June 17, 2025:
Unfortunately, I now have to describe the review in more detail.
The hotel I booked was, sadly, not at all worthy of a 4-star rating. It was a dark "hole."
While it was possible to open the folding doors from the outside, you could then see completely into the room. The lighting
in the room was so dim that you couldn't really see anything.
There was a refrigerator on the wall, but it didn't hold much. Furthermore, the refrigerator wasn't plugged in, and after five days, it was simply removed.
The shower in the bathroom is a complete design flaw. There's no door, so after showering, the bathroom floor was flooded. For this reason, I bought a mop to mitigate this unacceptable situation. I left the mop at the hotel. This is also mentioned in other reviews.
The bathroom had an automatic light control that turns off after about five minutes when the door is closed. Unfortunately, the door is also a design flaw. It doesn't close properly, and since there's no handle on the outside, the light kept switching on several times during the night, making it impossible to sleep.
Now, regarding the room cleaning. The floor wasn't cleaned, and the bed wasn't even made up once during my entire stay. Everything was done haphazardly. Unfortunately, there was no sign indicating whether the room needed cleaning or not, and as a result, the cleaning staff tried to gain access to the room during my stay. This is completely unprofessional. The hotel was almost never occupied during my stay. A truly bizarre atmosphere, not to mention eerie. This is also mentioned in other reviews, so I'm not the only one.
But now comes the kicker. After writing a review, without even listing all the issues, I discovered today that my credit card had been charged €100. I contacted the hotel, and then, without any explanation, I received an invoice for "incidental charges & cleaning fees." I inquired again about this, and they informed me that I had supposedly dirty the room. Sorry, but that's completely fabricated. That's what you call kicking someone when they're down, and it says it all about the quality and professionalism of a hotel. No one would want to be a guest at a hotel like that.
The hotel told me I should now handle everything through my booking agent. They've clearly lost interest in customer satisfaction.
I'm going to sue my booking agent for the €100, since I didn't damage the room. They could have done that during check-out, but apparently, that wasn't necessary. Perhaps the cleaning staff caused some damage, but trying to pin it on me is outrageous.
I would advise everyone not to give their credit card to that hotel; they just charge you whatever suits them.
I've never experienced anything like this from a hotel before, and I travel 4-5 times a year worldwide.
