Queer Wave — Cyprus LGBTQ+ Film Festival
About This Event
Cyprus's LGBTQ+ film festival is Queer Wave, held each September in Nicosia. The non-profit Queer Wave Ltd organises it, with funding from the Deputy Ministry of Culture. In its first six editions it gave more than 250 LGBTQIA+ films their first screening in Cyprus, and it also supports Cypriot filmmakers and artists.
The festival runs for ten days of screenings, performances and side events, with local and visiting filmmakers. The venue is NiMAC, the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, which is in a restored former power station in the old town and works with the Pierides Foundation.
The line-up and ticketing are announced on queerwave.com and on Instagram at @queerwavecyprus.
The 2026 edition, the seventh, ran from 18 to 27 September. The 2025 edition was on 12 to 21 September. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
