About this place Cosy Bar

Located on Studiestræde in the heart of Copenhagen's gay district, Cosy Bar is a welcoming gay venue that combines the relaxed atmosphere of a neighborhood bar with the energy of a dance club. The space features a small dance floor where a live DJ keeps the energy up throughout the night, making it an ideal spot for those looking to dance and socialize in an LGBTQ+-friendly environment. The venue opens nightly from 10pm, catering to a primarily 20-30-something crowd who appreciate the late hours and casual, inclusive vibe. Whether you're looking for a laid-back evening with drinks and conversation or want to dance into the early morning hours, the bar accommodates both. The intimate size and neighborhood location give it a genuine, local feel rather than a mega-club atmosphere. Copenhagen's gay scene is known for being welcoming and integrated into the city's broader nightlife culture, and Cosy Bar fits right into that ethos. It's a solid choice if you're seeking an authentic gay bar experience where you can mix and mingle with locals and other travelers in a relaxed setting with music and dancing.

I went inside, paid for the coat check, and then my friends and I paid for drinks. Once we'd paid for everything, they decided to kick me out because they didn't like my hair. They said my dreadlocks were cultural appropriation (I don't understand how someone can say that when they don't know me or my roots). I decided not to argue and left. I wish they had told me this before I paid for everything. It was a bad experience. At least they refunded my coat check money (although I had to argue to get it). I felt judged for my appearance.
