Many visitors find Jailhouse CPH to have a good atmosphere and friendly staff, with some specifically praising the bartenders and the laid-back vibe. However, a recurring complaint is that some staff can be unwelcoming or arrogant, and the indoor smoking policy is also a point of contention for some. There are also reports of discriminatory entry practices.

About this place Jailhouse CPH

Jailhouse CPH, at Studiestræde 12, is a gay bar and restaurant in central Copenhagen, just off Rådhuspladsen. It's got a prison theme going on, with bartenders in guard uniforms and seating that resembles cells. You'll mostly find gay men here, but lesbians and curious tourists also drop by. Theme nights are a big deal on weekends - think sailor, army, bear, Oktoberfest, and a huge Eurovision party. The bar has a 3.7 Google rating, based on around 200 reviews. Check its social media for hours and the theme schedule, since we don't have that info on file.

The young bartenders have attitude are not very welcoming and was very interesting talking with eachother. Bar was ok crowd so so. A lot of drunk people. And not so social. Might be better places. Get new bartenders to start with to due the atmosphere more welcoming.

Arrogant and rude staff who talk down to the guests and would rather see you just put the money in and otherwise move on as quickly as possible

Well, I was here with my boyfriend and two friends on New Year’s Eve, and I didn’t really like the experience. My boyfriend was already drunk when we arrived, and we were asked to leave by someone we believe was the owner of the place. I think that’s fair and I can understand that position, even though we weren’t bothering anyone or causing any trouble. What I didn’t like was the way he physically pushed us all the way to the exit. It was very crowded, we couldn’t just teleport through people, and there was really no need to shove us like that, bro. After we went outside, I wanted to ask him if my friends, who hadn’t been drinking at all, could stay while my boyfriend and I would leave. He kept interrupting me with “this is not a discussion club.” Fine, I’m not trying to debate with you, just let me finish what I’m saying. In the end, my friends also had to leave the bar. Overall, it felt very unpleasant to be treated like the worst criminals in the world just because one person in our group was drunk. I’m giving a bad rating purely because of this rude guy.
