About this place Hôtel Couvent des Minimes

The Hôtel Couvent des Minimes occupies a beautifully converted 17th-century Franciscan convent on the Quai du Wault in Vieux-Lille, making it one of the most distinctive hotel addresses in northern France. The building's historic bones — vaulted cloisters, stone stairways, a chapel converted into a breakfast room — are preserved within a contemporary boutique interior. The hotel is well-regarded by LGBTQ+ travellers for its inclusive and discreet atmosphere; it is a short walk from both the main gay bar cluster on Rue des Bouchers and the Grand Place. Rooms from approximately €110–180/night.

I came for two days with my wife to visit Lille. The hotel is large and the ground-floor patio is magnificent. The staff is pleasant and very classy, which is quite a contrast to the rooms. They seem stuck in the 90s; everything is outdated and poorly maintained, and the housekeeping leaves much to be desired, especially considering we had a 3 pm check-in and our room wasn't ready until 4:45 pm. Four stars? Yeah, right. I'm still looking for them. The parking lot doesn't have enough spaces compared to the number of rooms, and it costs €21 per day. Otherwise, you have to walk 10 minutes to an Indigo parking garage for €17 per day. The rooms are from a time before cell phones; proof of this is that there aren't even any power outlets on the bedside tables. Let's talk about the €21 breakfast buffet. Again, it's a joke; it's never worth that price. The savory options are unappetizing, the pastries are good, but we're talking about a €21 breakfast buffet, and we clearly expect something else at that price. On the other hand, the hotel is well located for exploring Old Lille on foot. Clearly, I don't recommend staying here, and we certainly won't be returning.

My worst stay of 2026. The outside temperature was very high. The room I was given had no air conditioning (4-star hotel!!!). After going to reception, I was given another room, this time with air conditioning. The problem was that the air conditioning in this room was broken, and there was no window to the outside. So I went back to the non-air-conditioned room to try to sleep with the window open, using the two fans provided. I couldn't sleep all night. The next morning, I went back to reception to complain. They gave me a room for the second night with working air conditioning this time. At check-out, I asked for a gesture of goodwill. They told me I had been upgraded for the second night!!! In short, I do not recommend this hotel in the summer. Maybe in winter, provided you don't mind the state of the rooms, which have been in a state of disrepair for far too long... The only positive point was the rather nice restaurant.

A group of about twenty people stayed for four nights in this very nice hotel during a corporate sporting event. Excellent location for visiting the city and getting to the various competition venues. Close to the Champ de Mars bus stop and the Rihour metro station. The parking lot is a bit small and requires a ticket per day. It's not possible to reserve parking in advance. The rooms are comfortable. The bedding is a bit soft. The rooms are rather dark; the lights are too dim. The breakfast buffet is comprehensive and sufficient for athletes. A place to recommend for anyone visiting Lille. The reception staff is very helpful and professional.
