About this place Le Sucre

Le Sucre is a club and concert venue on the roof of La Sucrière, a converted sugar warehouse on Quai Rambaud in Lyon's Confluence district. It is run by Arty Farty, the organisers of the Nuits Sonores festival, and books electronic DJs, live acts and some daytime events, with a terrace over the Saône. It is a mainstream venue listed as gay-friendly, not a gay club, though several queer party nights have been hosted there. Google reviews average 4.3 from over 2,600 ratings. Nights start late and the calendar changes weekly, so check the line-up and buy tickets in advance for big names. Tram T1 stops nearby.

Nice club, but a bit too pretentious. Be careful not to have a beer on the quayside while waiting for your friends to celebrate a birthday at Le Sucre, otherwise you'll be refused entry for "disrespect" towards the establishment. The quayside is a public thoroughfare; we were sober and wanted to have food and drinks inside. We were there on a Tuesday at 8 pm for a free event. We left a little shocked by the categorical refusal to let us in, but we had a great evening elsewhere. So much for their business numbers. Anyway, we'll be back because we're not here to judge, but it's a shame :)
