About this place Hôtel Negresco

The Hôtel Negresco is the most recognisable building on the Nice skyline after the Promenade des Anglais itself — a belle époque palace with its trademark pink dome and white façade that has defined the Côte d'Azur since 1913. The hotel is a museum as much as a place to stay: 600 original artworks including pieces by Niki de Saint Phalle and Roy Lichtenstein fill the corridors and public rooms. Each of the 96 rooms and suites is individually decorated in a different historical period. The Negresco has long been considered gay-friendly by LGBTQ+ travel guides — the staff are professional and discreet in the best French grand-hotel tradition, and the hotel's legendary status means it attracts a cosmopolitan, open-minded clientele. The Chantecler restaurant holds a Michelin star. Rooms from approximately €350/night; suites from €700.

We walked through the reception door out of curiosity, and why not feel like important guests for a few minutes? After all, luxury is everything, so we thought, why not? We were welcomed like royalty in the bar's lounge, adorned with gilding and precious woods, and above all, a huge portrait of Louis XIV. We ordered an ice cream sundae, and I must say, it was a taste sensation: incredible homemade ice cream with whipped cream and a hot chocolate sauce—truly delicious chocolate. All that for 18 euros per sundae. Of course, it's not cheap, but it was a suspended moment in another world, ultimately accessible even if only once in a lifetime. An experience not to be missed!

The Negresco had been recommended by several friends, so my boyfriend and I stopped by for a drink after having dinner nearby. The place is breathtaking from the outside, and if you're an art lover, you'll be more than impressed by the vast collection it houses. It includes pieces imported from castles (including Versailles, to name just one), 19th-century frescoes, and more modern pieces. The place has an irresistible charm, and you can truly feel the spirit of each room. We had the privilege of meeting Charles, who is extremely kind and dedicated. Seeing our interest, he gave us a private tour of the main areas, such as the two bars, the grand reception hall, the elevator, and even some rooms not open to the public. He took the time to explain and show us the must-sees, as well as some very special stories that only the walls of the establishment could tell. Charles made our experience entertaining and educational, one we'll never forget. A true VIP experience. We will definitely return on our next trip to Nice!

"Le Negresco, in Nice this is the place to stay. Its a beautifully restored building with a long history. Stay here on my way to Cannes, service is great & very attentive. Restaurants & inhouse bars are enough for you not to venture out. Gym, spa, sauna all sized well for the hotel. Cafes, shops, businesses are a 3 minute walk. In Nice, stay here." 11/06/2026

If you need a toilet this is the place to go however if you would like any service I would highly recommend anywhere else we waited 20 minutes whilst being ignored by the staff but once we decided to leave the staff where incredibly rude. A beautiful place but what's the point if they can't treat you like a paying customer.

Five stars are not enough. High hospitality exactly as it should be: impeccable, professional, with genuine kindness and without a trace of pretentiousness. An exceptional experience that earns absolute respect.
