What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the hotel's excellent location, close to the city center and attractions, and the friendly, helpful staff. However, a common complaint is the lack of air conditioning, which can make rooms uncomfortably warm in summer, and noise from streetcars running late at night and early in the morning.

About this place Hotel Augsburger Hof

Hotel Augsburger Hof is a mid-range hotel at Auf dem Kreuz 2, in the northern old town between the cathedral and the Fischertor. It is a mainstream hotel, not a gay venue. Google reviews average 4.3 from about 580, and it has its own restaurant. Rathausplatz, Maximilianstraße and most of the city's bars are within a 10 to 15 minute walk. A sensible central base if you want to do everything on foot.

There would be nothing to complain about at the hotel were it not for the street noise. Despite generally good soundproof windows, the noise from the trams running through the very narrow street until late at night is both audible and palpable. Given the high temperatures at the end of May 2026, we also had to keep one of the windows open as long as possible (lying outside next to the tracks probably wouldn't be much louder). But as I said: it's actually a nice, large room, plus a decent breakfast, and generally good value for money. So, pay attention when choosing a room! The hotel won't mention the problem on its own initiative.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ I spent a few nights at the Hotel Augsburger Hof and had a good stay overall. The price-performance ratio is good, especially if you're looking for solid, centrally located accommodation. The staff is quite diverse, but most employees were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and attentive. You feel welcome and well looked after. The hotel is clean and well-run. However, it's also quite noticeable that many areas are showing their age. The furnishings, rooms, and bathrooms sometimes look like they're from the 1990s. Everything works, everything is well-maintained and functional, but don't expect a modern hotel atmosphere or a particularly relaxing experience. There's also room for improvement in the service. For example, there's no daily room service. This isn't a major issue, but it's worth mentioning. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would return. The hotel definitely has potential: With some modernization and a fresh approach, it could become a truly excellent hotel. Currently, it's primarily a clean

Very nice hotel, unfortunately a bit noisy due to the tram...

The tram is a disaster. I couldn't sleep until the city's public transport company finished for the day. It sounds like the tram is about to drive right through the room. Otherwise, everything is fine.

You can hear the tram all night. You get used to it after the second night.
