This gay bar in Berlin’s Friedrichshain takes a playful nautical theme to a neighborhood already thick with LGBTQ+ life.
The place is all maritime décor: think streetlight lamps, neon signs, and disco balls creating a fun, lighthearted space for dancing and socializing. Its name? A nod to Hamburg’s legendary street, famous for its history of sexual liberation—a tribute to the owner's roots and the bar's own unapologetically good-time vibe.
Musically, they hit everything from 80s pop to house, electro, techno, and minimal. Saturdays bring in guest DJs, and there are always themed nights and special sessions to keep things from getting stale. Drink specials keep a night out from breaking the bank, and the events swing from casual evenings to some truly daring themed parties that celebrate the local scene’s many interests.
Friedrichshain is one of Berlin's edgiest, most creative spots, drawing a young, adventurous crowd. This bar slots right in, a place where regulars and visitors can connect, dance, and just hang out. If you’re after a quiet drink or a full-on dance party, its laid-back charm and playful spirit make it a solid stop on any Berlin LGBTQ+ itinerary.

A great place to have a drink and dance. Very friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.
I remember the old Freiheit... and I've been coming to this bar since 2011. I can only say that it's even cooler and more open now. I'll continue going there and I really enjoy it. Everything's great and the owner is a cool guy too.
One misses the old darkroom. But otherwise, it's turned out very nicely, and Gitti is the best DJ.
