About the event

Mona Lisicke has a mind of her own. What's wrong with people who willingly conform to others' ideas of how life should be? She finds neither what is expected of her as a girl and woman nor what she should ideologically accept to be enticing. Fortunately, her father considers it more important that Mona qualifies as a person than as a girl, even if he clings to the hope that the GDR experiment is the right path. Almost 18 years old, Mona gets closer to a woman than usual. What a relief to be able to choose such a life. A lack of willingness to compromise will lead her restlessly through the years. Not an easy path, but so be it. Mona finds solace in her busyness and the knowledge that she always has a choice. Caspar Gutsche reads from her debut novel "Ich tanze nun mal nicht gerne Standard" about her childhood in the GDR and her time at the alternative artists' farm Lietzen. The reading offers personal and literary insights into life as a lesbian woman in the GDR and how to deal with societal role models and ideological expectations. Caspar Gutsche tells the story of a woman who creates her own universe due to a lack of role models, without sparing details and with lightness. A story that could have happened exactly like this. Caspar Gutsche is the author of the early lesbian protocols (Ich ahnungsloser Enger, Reiher 1991).
