Brezel Company in Schöneberg is a solid spot for a casual meal, right in the middle of Berlin’s gay zone.
The owner took over in 2014, and since then, they’ve made a name for fresh food that’s much more than just pretzels. Yes, you can get the classic warm pretzel, or a buttered one, or even a pretzel sandwich. But they also do fresh breads, soups, cakes, and pastries. It’s a big corner space, good for a quick bite, meeting friends, or just hanging out.
Berlin’s gay scene has everything from quick cafes to fancy restaurants. This place lands squarely in the casual, friendly camp. Expect honest, simple food, made with attention. No pretense here. The menu focuses on good ingredients and traditional cooking, which makes it a dependable choice, whether you’re new to the neighborhood or you live around the corner.
There are two locations: the first opened in Neukölln in 2010. This Schöneberg branch came along in 2015. Both operate with the same focus on fresh, made-to-order food. Being in the heart of the gay district, the Schöneberg spot is perfectly placed for exploring the area, whether you need a relaxed breakfast or a quick lunch before the bars open.

Used to be my favorite coffee place. But sadly they closed doors :(
I ordered two slices of cake and two double espressos, and paid about €15. When ordering a double espresso, you shouldn't just increase the amount of water; that's not in keeping with proper coffee culture. And I'm not exaggerating, my coffee from my filter machine is stronger. Please, my dears, you can't pull two double espressos from a portafilter machine. :/
The best days are long gone. It used to be cozy and friendly, but now you sit at wobbly tables surrounded by cardboard boxes and freezers, Spreeradio blares through the room, and the restroom is permanently locked. It's okay for takeout, although given the sheer number of freezers and boxes, I suspect very little is homemade anymore, and the prices are far too high for what it is.
The quality of the baked goods is on par with cheap bakeries, but the price level is that of large-scale bakeries.
