via Stay22About this place Café Berio
Café Berio has been a gay landmark in Berlin’s Schöneberg for over 50 years. You’ll find it at Nollendorfplatz, a two-floor spot that works as a café and a bar, good for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon drink.
The vibe is relaxed. It pulls in a mix: gay and straight locals, plus tourists. It feels like real Berlin, a true social hub.
Its outdoor seating is a big draw, especially when it’s warm. That summer terrace is perfect for people-watching, and you’ll see some of the city’s outdoor cruising culture unfold. It really picks up during special events and on weekends, drawing bigger crowds for things like the Easter BLF leather weekends.
The food and coffee are fine, not amazing, but that’s not really the point. Berio is a place to meet people. New management took over in 2009, but it’s still a vital anchor in Berlin’s gay scene. If you want a casual breakfast, a drink overlooking one of Berlin’s most famous gay squares, or just a place to connect with the local LGBTQ+ community, Berio delivers that distinctly unpretentious Berlin hospitality. Very chill place to get breakfast in Berlin. Lgbt friendly and fun.
A classic café; unfortunately, I was informed that this institution will be closing.
Seems to be closed 🤔
Unfortunately, it will be closing soon! A real shame.
Apparently permanently closed. What a shame.
Delicious cakes and great atmosphere. Also the place looks very modern. Very recommended!
