About this place Hofpfisterei

Just south of Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station, this branch of a small, dedicated bread and pastry chain faces Café Berio in one of Berlin's more welcoming neighborhoods. It’s a plain, honest place focused on quality, not frills. They mostly do naturally leavened breads and traditional German pastries. You’ll see the usual stuff and house specialties like the Nußschnecke (nut spiral) and Apfel Tasche (apple turnover). Some loaves start baking in Bavaria before they even get to Berlin. The approach here is old-world, authentic. Expect real craftsmanship in every loaf and pastry; no trendy innovations. It's a good spot to grab breakfast, lunch, or some quality baked goods to go. Nollendorfplatz has long been a hub for Berlin's LGBTQ+ community, and this bakery feels right at home in the area’s open-hearted vibe. You can check their website for the full range of products.

Amazing Vollkorns bread but my favorite is walnut bread, very delicious and just need butter to make it perfect! The Service is amazingly friendly as well

The most delicious bread and excellent service. If you want fresh, real bread, you've come to the right place.

I only go here because I haven't found such a good sourdough bread anywhere else. Otherwise, I often leave the shop with a very bad feeling. Sometimes you get good service, but often it's just rudeness. In the 21st century, it should be a given that credit cards are accepted. Unfortunately, I'm always "lectured" here that credit cards only steal data and that debit cards are much better, so they only accept debit cards. (Even though debit card payments don't even exist anymore, and even the "girocard" you need to pay at Hofpfisterei costs customers money, unlike if you already have a credit card on your smartwatch). Instead, there's a lot of cash being handled in the shop, and every now and then a penny falls into the display case. Given the "politeness" of the staff, I wisely refrain from mentioning it and make sure to get out of the shop quickly, hoping to find a comparable bread somewhere else soon.

I've been here several times. Sometimes the service is okay, but tonight it was abysmal again. The saleswoman was extremely unfriendly, and this has happened several times before. The products are fine. Unfortunately, they only accept debit cards, which is another drawback. The service at this location needs significant improvement!
