The amazing Jeff Mannes from berlinguide dot de stops by here and tells you all about this iconic landmark of Berlin history.
Very happy I was able to stop by and see this place. Isherwood’s work has been so important to me, so just being able to visit was very special.
The interior of the house was featured in the movie "Christopher and his kind", based on Isherwood's autobiography of the same name. On the street corner they shot a Cafè scene, was surprised to see it wasn't really a Cafè but that they stuck to the real street. If you've watched the movie, it's a nice experience to see the real thing
Historical and literary landmark
If you are in the area, it's of historical significance for fans of Christopher Isherwood. Granted, you'll be looking at a plaque on the wall and can only imagine life at that time. The stories he wrote were the inspiration of the famous movie "Cabaret."
