About this place Muttis Bierstube

Muttis Bierstube has been Bielefeld's gay bar since 1972. It's a small Kneipe on Friedrich-Verleger-Straße, a few minutes' walk from the Altstadt. When it turned 50 in 2022, the Neue Westfälische called it an institution and one of the first gay bars in Germany. In its early years someone threw Molotov cocktails at the door, and the bar outlasted that. It opens Wednesday and Thursday 20:00 to 03:00 and Friday and Saturday 20:00 to 05:00, and it's closed Sunday to Tuesday. Friday is disco night, Saturday runs as an after-hour, and karaoke and theme nights come up too. The website is only a placeholder at the moment, so check Instagram (@muttisbierstube) for the current programme before you go.

Disgusting 😭 Simply ridiculous rules for a bar in general. What's the point?

We were there for the first time today (my husband and I). A quaint bar, friendly staff, we felt very comfortable. Finding a parking space wasn't easy, but okay 😉...we'd love to come back.
