About this place Hotel Überfluss

Hotel Überfluss is one of Bremen's most distinctive hotels — a design hotel occupying a historic building on the Weser waterfront with a contemporary interior that has made it a benchmark for upscale travel in Bremen. The hotel has been consistently cited by LGBTQ+ travel platforms as Bremen's most welcoming upscale accommodation option: the staff culture is genuinely warm rather than professionally neutral, the design-conscious approach to hospitality attracts a creative and cosmopolitan guest profile that is comfortable with LGBTQ+ guests, and the waterfront setting provides a genuinely exceptional visual environment. The Langenstrasse location on the Weser puts the hotel within easy reach of Bremen's historic old town (the Rathaus and Roland statue are nearby) and a 15-minute walk from das Viertel and the Vor dem Steintor gay bar strip. The hotel's bar is a social space in its own right — the waterfront terrace is among Bremen's better outdoor bar experiences in summer. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Bremen who want design-quality accommodation with an explicitly welcoming culture, Hotel Überfluss is the clear recommendation. Rooms vary from compact standard to larger suites with Weser views.

We stayed for two days and were very disappointed. We had booked six more rooms for a different date but cancelled them. The room was very small, very dark, and very noisy. The swimming pool was okay, but it wasn't pleasant when you wanted to relax after a sauna and a teenage couple was causing a disturbance for over two hours. The breakfast was abysmal. The bread was so hard you couldn't cut it, which other guests confirmed. The scrambled eggs were dried out and probably quite old, making them inedible. The asparagus in the scrambled eggs was also very strange. The young man who was serving was very unfriendly. Some of the chairs were dirty, and some of the covers were torn. The fact that there was nowhere comfortable to sit down and get a drink made it even less appealing. The young women at reception were incredibly friendly and did a great job. It was simply a shame.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend at the end of last year. The hotel itself certainly has some nice areas. However, our room was completely run-down. On the way to the room, we walked past a toothbrush lying on the floor. The carpet in the room was completely stained and filthy. It was clear from the windows that mold had been sporadically removed. The electrical wiring for the lamps was falling out above the bed. When we spoke to reception, they offered us free breakfast. In my opinion, this was not worth it. The breakfast was absolutely not worth the price. Neither the hotel nor Booking.com responded to our subsequent emails. What a shame! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

What a wonderful stay at the Nena Hotel Bremen! The hotel is very modern and tastefully furnished – you can see that attention has been paid to detail everywhere. The location couldn't be better: right in the heart of the action, yet pleasantly quiet and ideal for exploring the city. I would especially like to highlight the incredibly friendly staff: courteous, warm, and always helpful. I would love to come back again!

Our stay at the hotel was simply wonderful! The room was clean, modernly furnished, and very comfortable—the perfect retreat after a long day. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful; we felt warmly welcomed from the very first moment. The breakfast was fresh, delicious, and varied, so we started each day off right. The hotel's location is fantastic: everything was quick and easy to reach. We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to return anytime. Highly recommended!
