There were three of us staying at the hotel for several nights. Unfortunately, the third person's bed (a sofa bed) was incorrectly assembled, resulting in a noticeable tilt. Furthermore, the shower drain in our room was broken/the tiles were laid incorrectly, so the water didn't drain properly. After reporting this issue to reception on the first morning, we were told they would take care of it while we were away. When we returned in the evening and wanted to shower, we discovered that the water still hadn't drained and was pooling all over the bathroom, even leaking into the room. We then informed reception again about the problem, and they offered us a new room. Upon arriving in the new room, we found that the third bed (a sofa bed) for the third person in our group wasn't even unfolded, nor was there a duvet cover provided. So we had to go back down to reception again. The sofa bed was once again tilted.

It delivers on its promises: modern, relaxed, a good place to work but also to hang out, and reliable. I had the impression that parking (shared with Residence Inn) would be scarce over the weekend – I couldn't get in on Friday night because the spaces were full. However, the staff handled it accommodatingly. Solid rooms in the MOXY style, modern, very clean, and a great bed. Compact bathroom. My room faced the courtyard and was very quiet.

We stayed at the Moxy Düsseldorf City a while ago and assumed Moxy hotels would have the same standards everywhere. Unfortunately, that's not the case. (The Moxy in Essen is also less expensive than the one in Düsseldorf). The room and bathroom are the same size. On the plus side, there are more hanging options than in Düsseldorf hotels, such as a clothes rail. On the downside, there's only one small window (Düsseldorf City has two). The room felt stuffy with a slightly strange smell. The breakfast isn't presented attractively and is somewhat haphazardly spread across several counters. For example, hard-boiled eggs are opposite the scrambled eggs, and the salt isn't next to the water but four meters away (?). There's a small selection of jams from dispensers (orange, strawberry, plum jam, Nutella). There are also single-serving portions of jam—but only the same varieties as the loose ones. My husband said the salami slices weren't tasty. The scrambled eggs were unfortunately dry. It's a real shame, because we found the breakfast at the other Moxy to be good. For the price, I don't expect miracles, but it should be tasty. The design of Moxy hotels is beautiful in many details, especially the lounge area. Unfortunately, there's always a tendency towards gray walls with uninspired, often dark graffiti. Depending on the angle, it suddenly looks less like a trendy hotel and more like a New York subway. What we always appreciate: - That you can relax and read and work in the lounge area. There are plenty of quiet corners with comfortable furniture. - The large wooden table in the breakfast area with board games, which is perfect for writing/working at breakfast time. (We eat around 9 a.m., and it wasn't very busy.) - The staff is very friendly, especially on Whit Monday. Parking is available in the courtyard directly behind the hotel. There's also a parking garage across the street. The city center is just a few minutes' walk away, as are all the subways, commuter trains, and trams. Unfortunately, it's located on a busy street with ambulances, etc. But because of the air conditioning, you don't need to open the window. Therefore, it didn't bother us.
