Panel discussion and exhibition by the Initiative Circle Anti-Racism Leipzig and "Racism Kills!" Leipzig from Tuesday, September 15, 2026, hosted at the Leipzig City History Museum, Old City Hall.
Right-wing violence is not a fringe phenomenon. Racist attacks in Solingen, Mölln, Rostock-Lichtenhagen, Hoyerswerda, or also Leipzig-Grünau in the 1990s serve as reminders. In recent history, the NSU murders and the right-wing terrorist attacks in Hanau and Halle have received particular attention. In Germany, at least 224 victims of right-wing violence have been recorded by various initiatives since 1990 – in Leipzig, there have been nine victims and one suspected case since then.
Right-wing murders are not random crimes. They are the result of inhuman views within which individuals are devalued and dehumanized based on their origin, skin color, sexual orientation, or social status. Perpetrators often act in a climate that encourages and even relativizes acts of violence. The exhibition tells the background of the crimes in Leipzig, of prejudices against those affected or bereaved families, and addresses how the cases were depoliticized and downplayed.
