Saxon Separatists as an Example of Right-Wing Terrorism

Since January 2026, eight suspected members of the Saxon Separatists have been on trial. The group is said to comprise up to 20 people. According to the indictment, they are accused of wanting to establish a "state and social system aligned with National Socialism" (Federal Public Prosecutor's Office). The defendants are represented by a team of scene lawyers. Several of the accused have clear connections to the AfD and its now officially dissolved former youth organization, Junge Alternative. This also applies to other right-wing terrorist contexts of the recent past. These political connections are to be illuminated and classified. Because the unmasking of the Saxon Separatists should not be a reason for relief: it is to be assumed that there are other groups whose existence is not yet known.

Kerstin Köditz was a member of the Saxon state parliament for Die Linke from 2001 to 2024 and was spokesperson for anti-fascist policy for her parliamentary group. She is currently, among other things, chairwoman of the Association of Victims of the Nazi Regime – Federation of Anti-Fascists Saxony e.V.
