Neighborhood Tour: NS Forced Labor in Leipzig City Center

Armaments companies like HASAG still represent the face of Nazi forced labor in Leipzig today – but forced laborers were also present and unmistakable in the heart of the city. The neighborhood tour will present aspects of National Socialist forced labor using a few selected locations in the city center. What did the daily life of forced laborers look like? What about the administrative system that organized it? And how were forced laborers perceived by the German population?

The tour is broadly themed but primarily focuses on forced labor in the public sector: former camps in the city center, workplaces for forced laborers there, and the role of the city of Leipzig will be examined.
