About the event
Every year, homeless people fall victim to deadly violence. However, even though right-wing motives are obvious in numerous cases, a political and societal examination of the acts and a remembrance of the victims are usually absent. The marginalization and devaluation that homeless people experience in all areas of life continue even after their death. The lecture examines the long continuities of the idea of an alleged "people's community" and the resulting social Darwinist stigmatization, persecution, and violence. The lecture focuses on cases of deadly violence against homeless people. Regional examples will also be considered.
