Hardly any author has dealt with the German November Revolution as intensively as Klaus Gietinger. The result is half a dozen non-fiction history books that have been able to uncover new aspects of this event of the century. From this, the author and director has now written a political thriller whose plotlines are quite precisely verifiable.

The novel dives into the turbulent Berlin of 1919, shortly after the November Revolution that brought an end to the German Empire. Conservative police commissioner Richard Brinkmann and police assistant Cläre Reichelt, who sympathizes with revolutionary ideas, investigate one of the most spectacular double murders in German history, the murder of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht.

Bernhard Weiß, liberal deputy police chief, who is taunted as "Isidor" by anti-Semites, covers up the research of the two. And this, even though only the military justice system is supposed to handle the case on behalf of the SPD government. It quickly becomes clear that a cover-up is underway. Brinkmann and Reichelt eventually discover a hot lead all the way to the top. And get caught in the vortex of the emerging counter-revolution.
