Christopher Street Day Leipzig
About This Event
CSD Leipzig, the city's take on Christopher Street Day, has its roots in a humble 1992 event, when a small group plastered the city with a handful of posters. Now, it's a week-long affair that kicks off with the rainbow flag flying high at the town hall and wraps up with a Saturday march, street party, and Prideball at the Täubchenthal.
The march and street festival take over Augustusplatz. In Saxony, context is everything. Just last year, police launched a large operation after neo-Nazis protested the CSD in Bautzen - a far-right rally at the main station fizzled out quickly, while around 19,000 people joined the parade. This year's march, on 18 July, seemed to go off without a hitch, under the motto "Keine Ruhe, kein Zurück - Queere Rechte Stück für Stück!"
The city claimed 18,000 participants signed up, and local paper L-IZ thought the organisers' estimate of 20,000 attendees was probably about right. As of now, the 2027 dates are still under wraps.
