Hilton Mainz

A beautiful hotel with a stunning view. Cars are well taken care of in the underground garage. 😁 If I ever go back to Mainz, I'll definitely stay here again. I'd recommend room 1702. ❤️

I was a guest at the Hilton Mainz from June 11th to 13th, 2026. On the 11th, despite only three tables being occupied inside and my explicit request for a quick meal because I was hungry, we had to wait 30 minutes for a glass of water in the restaurant. After another 30 minutes, we left, still hungry. So, we waited 60 minutes to be able to order. On the morning of the 12th, the light in my bathroom didn't work. Therefore, I had to shower in the dark. Afterwards, I discovered that the hairdryer wasn't working. It had a loose connection – it only worked for three seconds at a time when the cord was bent. It's simply impossible to dry your hair in three-second intervals, especially when you have to constantly bend the cord. After this embarrassing bathroom breakdown, I discovered that the power outlet next to my bed wasn't working and my phone hadn't charged overnight. I started the day with 7% battery. My hair was wet. Fantastic! I subsequently reported all the issues personally to the reception desk, where they noted everything down. I was assured that a technician would come. When I entered my hotel room that evening, my toothbrush was lying loose on the bathroom shelf. Absolutely disgusting! With the brush head on the shelf. At least they managed to get the light working in the bathroom. The power outlets next to the bed were also working again. After the luxury of a shower with the light on, I discovered, with wet hair, that the hairdryer was still broken, hadn't been replaced, and I still couldn't dry my hair! Then, on the 20th (Saturday), there was a knock at my door at 7:35 a.m. I opened it; it was a hotel employee. I asked him how I could help him so early (after all, he had woken me up). He couldn't tell me what he wanted, neither in German nor in English. He was holding a piece of paper with the hotel logo, which he refused to show me. He waved and simply left. What strange behavior. Waking up guests, not being able to say what they want, and then waving goodbye from half a meter away. I would also like to mention some other issues that should be addressed: The elevator displayed error messages, see photos. At 11:30 a.m., dirty trays were found in the hallway, see photos. Overall, I hope I never stay here again. 170 euros per night is definitely too much for this accommodation. Not being offered any food on the day of arrival, nothing in the room worked, the staff seemed stressed, and they even touched my toothbrush (and put it down with the brush head down – who knows what happened to it). I just found an additional charge of 48 euros from the restaurant on the bill. I didn't eat or drink anything there. The bill and accompanying email are in English and request that I contact customer service by phone instead of writing. I'm not going to bother chasing after my money by being put on hold. For the sake of completeness, here's a photo of that too. Fun fact: I visited the bar at the Hilton Mainz in the evening. If I couldn't get any food, a beer to end the day would surely be doable, right? Unfortunately, I couldn't order anything there either. The bar staff was so overwhelmed by about 20 waiting guests with requests like "two lagers" or "one Aperol Spritz" that after almost 30 minutes of waiting (standing at the bar behind other annoyed guests), I ended up buying a canned cocktail in the lobby for almost €10. I was really looking forward to my stay – and struggled with the decision to write a review. Because I believe that things can always be improved, and there's always room for improvement. But everything just went so wrong that it would be irresponsible not to mention it. Please finally replace the broken hairdryer. It's probably still "in use." Room 2168. Mainz itself was beautiful.

Bar fridge in room. Kettle and coffee/tea sachets. Nice washroom and large bed. Well located near shopping, riverfront and restaurants.

Very friendly team! Magnificent view at breakfast. Free coffee machine in the lobby. The somewhat dated elevator hums rather loudly. Rooms in the immediate vicinity are not recommended.

I only used the Hilton to get to the conference area. Good connection! Very well suited for conferences and large meetings.

Slightly yellowed on the outside, but good business standard inside. Short distances, many conference rooms with access to the terrace. Rooms absolutely excellent.

Bar service is in dire need of improvement.

Love this Hilton property!! Customer service is excellent! The property is well kept and perfectly situated near food, shops, and scenic views right along the Rhine River!
