We spent 12 wonderful days in probably the best view apartments "Aphea village" with a direct view of the pool, sea and city. The kitchen had a pan, kettle and coffee machine. The water in the bathroom did splash the floor, but for those of us who wore flip-flops every day, it didn't matter. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained. The pool bar staff is very friendly and polite. The cleaner came every day. There are a lot of stairs, but the view is worth it, we recommend it to others too!
Staffs is great. Property is nice but lots of stairs and a little dated. Clean. I enjoyed my stay.
A beautiful, affordable, intimate Cretan-style hotel with very friendly service. It's not a resort. It has a beautiful view, a quiet atmosphere, and a cozy, clean pool. There's a pub, breakfast (we didn't use it), and a beer at happy hour for 3.50 euros. There's plenty of greenery and nice touches. There are cushions and lighting. We were here with TUI. We cooked our own meals. The market is 500 meters away. It's a little uphill. The beach is just like any other beach in Crete. We went there late in the afternoon with towels. The rooms have access to a terrace. We felt like we were in a private cottage; the rooms were modest but freshly painted and clean. We were delighted. We don't like soulless behemoths with everything.
Our first room was damp, dirty, and in dire need of renovation. The second is okay, but very old and could use some updating here and there. The pool is great and clean, and is run by other owners with a pool bar and small restaurant.
Absolutely terrible experience. We received a phone call just one hour before our planned arrival—while we were already driving from the airport—informing us that our room was no longer available. We were told the room had been “flooded,” but according to American Express, the real reason was that you had overbooked. You assured us that the alternative accommodation was “better” and that we would be given “the best room.” Instead, we were placed in substandard accommodation far below the one-bedroom sea-view apartment we originally paid for. We were given a basic studio at Ledra Maleme Hotel with no view, valued at about £100 less for the same nights according to booking sites. On top of that, the location was remote and difficult to find. When we finally arrived, we were greeted by local children making threatening “slashed neck” gestures—not exactly the welcome anyone would hope for. We had no choice but to accept this downgrade. We had just landed, were already en route to our original hotel, and were told last-minute that our paid accommodation was unavailable. A few days later, I contacted you to express our dissatisfaction. Over the phone, you offered a 50% refund, which we accepted as it roughly matched the difference in accommodation quality. However, in a later call, you suddenly claimed we “misheard” and that it was only 15%, which is completely unacceptable. The accommodation you moved us to did not match what we booked, paid for, or were promised. The handling of the situation, the misleading information, and the refusal to honour your own refund offer show unprofessionalism and dishonesty. This trip was meant to be a birthday and anniversary celebration, and it was significantly disrupted due to what appears to be poor management on your part. I do not recommend booking with this company and will not be advising any of my clients to stay with you in the future. I also have photos, screenshots, and full correspondence available as proof of the poor service provided, should they be required.
