About This Event
Bologna Pride now goes by the name Rivolta Pride ("revolt pride"), and it's run as a political demonstration. The march is self-managed and self-funded, with no public or private money. It's put together through open city assemblies of collectives, associations and individuals. That suits the city. In 1982 Bologna gave the gay group Cassero the Porta Saragozza gatehouse, the first public space in Italy handed to an LGBT organization. The Cassero is still the city's main LGBTQ+ centre, now based at the Salara on via Don Minzoni.
The 2026 route started with a gathering at Giardini Margherita at 16:00. The march left at 17:00 and went up via Santo Stefano, via Dante, viale Carducci, Porta San Donato and via Irnerio, reaching Parco della Montagnola around 20:00. There were six floats and speeches at the end. Bring water, because mid-June afternoons in Bologna are hot. The march is free to join.
The 2026 edition was on Saturday, June 13, under the slogan "No Pride in Genocide, Free Palestine". Its political platform also targeted Meloni government limits on gender-affirming care, the law against surrogacy abroad, and Bologna's housing crisis. Local press reported thousands of marchers but gave no count. The last figure we found was the organizers' claim of more than 30,000 in 2021, so we can't confirm the 40,000 listed here. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked. The march is usually held on a Saturday in June.
