Palermo Pride

Palermo Pride is the Sicilian capital's Pride march, with a week of events leading up to it. It started in 2010. Palermo was then the last large Italian city never to have hosted a Pride, and activists from Arcigay Palermo and Articolo Tre pushed for one after an anti-homophobia demonstration. Three years later, in 2013, the city hosted Italy's national Pride. The organizer is the Coordinamento Palermo Pride, which billed the 2025 edition as a Pride without sponsors.

The days before the parade bring talks, drag nights and aperitivi at venues around the centre. The parade itself is on a Saturday in the late afternoon. It gathers on Via Roma, passes Piazza Verdi and Piazza San Francesco di Paola and finishes at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, where there's a free stage and a closing party. June afternoons in Palermo are hot, so bring water and a hat.

The 2026 edition was on Saturday 20 June 2026 under the slogan "Liberiamo il desiderio!" (Let's free desire). It gathered at 16:00 at the corner of Via Roma and Corso Vittorio Emanuele and set off at 17:00 with six floats. It ended at the Zisa with a set by the event's godmothers, singer Giulia Mei and the band Queen of Saba, followed by club parties. No official headcount was published. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked; it's usually a Saturday in the second half of June.
