Our group of 5 travelers stopped here for drinks and conversation. We enjoyed local beers, elderberry cider , and some non alcoholic lemonade. All good choices and we brought our own snacks. We sat at the outdoor tables in the open air. Accesssibke tables outdoors with some under a huge umbrellas. Indoor areas offer several sofa seating areas. Accessible entry and venue. Menu is carsick and fairly readable with poor contrast. Noise level is conversation that became louder as the evening grew later with more patrons.

Look for something easy and quick lunch, then the little “garden” and the many different local types who ate there. Special place but good service as well as good food, simple/tasteful/cheap!

Alternative place where nice terrace and menu of craft beers mix! Eccentric downtown more, so very quiet.

I've visited this place with a friend during the Balta nakts, they had a marvellous auto-doors techno / electro event in the program of Balta nakts, and afterwards a really great electronic music night inside, really good atmosphere, that you don't want to leave. There is a good choice of beer, and it is relatively cheap. The public is young and international.

It is a really nice place if you have a quick work or business meeting. You can find a lot of place to sit in the day time or listen to some live music in the evening.

Absolutely diabolical service. While the level of service in Riga is generally rather poor, Kanepes staff managed to beat it hands-down. Inefficient, rude, unpleasant and lippy - jackpot across all categories. I’m wondering if they run their service for the sheer purpose of making all other places nearby to look better. Hospitality business? Very funny...

I was shown this bar by a friend a couple of months ago because we just happened to be walking past it. It takes the form of an abandoned-style old house, with a bar located in the living room and guests being free to wander about a few other rooms and a large beer garden. Service was fast and friendly, but they don't take cards so we had to pay for everything with cash. Drinks were priced normally for Riga, but the beer selection was quite small. Walking into the beer garden, it was evident that this bar draws a massively younger crowd than in other bars we frequent: the music and decoration was very student night-oriented, and most of the people outside looked around 18-19. It was pleasant enough, though impossible to sit down in the garden due to it being too crowded - and it was still fairly early in the evening as well. We were able to perch on a small table in the corridor inside, but it was difficult to communicate properly there especially as the toilet line was right next to us, and also incredibly long. They do host a lot of interesting events and activities, which would probably be the main reason I'd go back, instead of just for a few drinks out; otherwise, I'd miss it next time unless someone really wanted to go there. It's not a place I would really mind going back to, but far from the best place in Riga.

Aside from being a Cultural center, this place also acts (primarily) as a bar. It is somewhat of a "hipster" place, with very cheap prices on alcohol (beers at 3 Euros and hard liquor drinks at 5 Euros for 2 ounces !). We went on a Friday night at around 23:00 and the place was packed.... until we left at 03:00. A mix of locals and tourists makes it a very interesting place to mingle.
