Same-sex marriage is not recognized, but in April 2025 the Constitutional Court ruled that the absence of legal recognition for same-sex partnerships is unconstitutional — couples can now register partnerships through the courts, and parliament is drafting a gender-neutral registered-partnership law. Adoption by same-sex couples is not permitted. Anti-discrimination protections in employment cover sexual orientation. Lithuania remains among the lower-ranked EU countries on ILGA-Europe's Rainbow Map, but Vilnius hosts an annual Pride festival each June with growing institutional support.
