About this place Saint Patrick's Hotel Gozo

Saint Patrick's Hotel is an LGBTQ+-welcoming accommodation located on Gozo Island, Malta's smaller sister island known for its dramatic cliffs, quieter pace, and authentic Mediterranean charm. Situated in the Munxar area near Xlendi Bay, the hotel offers a peaceful base for exploring this picturesque destination. Gozo has become an increasingly popular spot for LGBTQ+ travellers seeking a more relaxed alternative to Malta's busier main island. Awful old hotel. It needs a lot of renovation.

According to all booking portals, Saint Patrick's Hotel is a 4-star hotel. The furnishings and inventory were supposedly blessed by Saint Patrick himself, which is the only reason they have survived to this day. The hotel's architecture has clearly won an award, but we paid a high price for it with our courtyard-facing room. The courtyard's design, combined with the tiled floor, acted like a gramophone speaker. Conversations, noises, and all the activities of arrivals and departures took place right next to our bed. Even the artificial and dusty flower arrangements couldn't compensate for the disturbing view from the "balcony"—the opposite walls, the false windows of the other rooms, and the plexiglass roof. The service staff was friendly, courteous, and genuinely tried to improve the situation. After leaving the room, the view of the bay and the enjoyment of unfiltered sunshine more than made up for it. The restaurant's seating comes from a 1950s garden furniture exhibition; usable but outdated. The breakfast buffet can be described as limited and lacks variety in toppings, bread selection, and fresh fruit. In contrast to breakfast, dinner, for those on half-board, was a different story. A three-course menu was served, consisting of two choice each of tasty appetizers, main courses, and desserts. While waiting for service, guests could enjoy the magnificent view of the bay and the surrounding landscape. To enjoy their meals in a relaxed and spill-free manner, guests were advised to stabilize the wobbly tables themselves with a napkin. Not to be forgotten is the rooftop terrace, where one could watch Xlendi awaken in the morning and observe the activity of tourists and locals in the evening. During the day, worn sun loungers and parasols invited guests to sunbathe. A small pool, described as such on the hotel's website, offered a refreshing respite. A refreshing dip could be had in a small pool. Unfortunately, we can only recommend this hotel with reservations.

We spent 10 days at Saint Patrick's Hotel and absolutely loved the super nice staff, the good breakfast with a fabulous view and the fair prices.

Can not comment on rooms as we only had a meal here. However it was a fantastic meal, soup tasty, chicken cooked so well it fell off the bone and finally a blast from the past a cherry ice cream artic roll. All served quite rapidly and efficiently. Hotel situation is ideal right on the sea side.

Our review and rating pertain to the restaurant, not the hotel. We ate mussels on the terrace. They were good. The fries were surprisingly extra. They took a while to bring us the menu, as if they didn't see us. After that, however, everything was handled quite quickly.

We were so glad we chose this hotel: - Great location - Clean rooms - Friendly staff - Very good food - Adequate breakfast - Good internet If you're willing to spend a bit more, we recommend booking a room with a sea view – it's absolutely stunning. The rooftop terrace is remarkable. The pool, however, is quite small. But it's perfectly adequate for cooling off. The outdoor terrace (where you can also have breakfast) is right by the sea. The rooms are cleaned daily. Hotel guests receive a 10% discount at the restaurant. Half-board is also a great option; the hotel cuisine is appealing. Excellent pizzas (including gluten-free options). We'll be back.
