Malta Pride
About This Event
Malta Pride is a ten-day pride week in September, ending with a march through Valletta on the second Saturday. The first march, in 2004, was a small demonstration. Since then Malta has gone to the top of European legal rankings for LGBTIQ rights, and in 2023 Valletta hosted EuroPride. Allied Rainbow Communities has coordinated the week since 2016, having co-organized it with the Malta Gay Rights Movement from 2014.
The march is free and anyone can join. In 2026 it started at 5pm with speeches at the Triton Fountain outside City Gate, then went through Valletta's grid of streets, with a DJ set at Triton Square from 8pm. In other years the Pride Village has been set up on St George's Square. The rest of the week mixes community talks, a concert, boat and beach parties and club nights, some of them ticketed. Gozo has its own, smaller march on the Saturday before, run by different groups.
Some practical points. Valletta is compact and has steep stairs, so wear flat shoes. Mid-September is still summer weather at march time. Rooms in Valletta itself go first; Sliema, across the harbour by ferry, is the usual fallback.
The 2025 week ran 5 to 14 September, with the march on 13 September. Listings for 2026 gave 4 to 13 September, with the march on 12 September. We couldn't find an official headcount for either year. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked, but expect early-to-mid September.

Practical Tips
Valletta is compact but steep, with long flights of steps; the march route is walkable, so wear flat shoes.
Rooms inside the walls sell out first in Pride week; Sliema, across the harbour by ferry, is the usual fallback.
The X4 bus runs from outside Arrivals at Malta airport to the Valletta terminus, next to the march start at the Triton Fountain, in 20 to 30 minutes.
