About This Event
Montenegro Pride is the country's pride march. It is organised by Queer Montenegro, an NGO founded in Podgorica in 2012. At the first Podgorica march in October 2013, the march itself was peaceful, but hooligans fought police elsewhere in the city. It has been held every year since, and recent editions have taken place in early October without incident.
Marchers gather outside a government building and walk through central Podgorica, with speeches along the way. The organisers treat the march as a protest as much as a celebration. In recent years speakers have called for a law on legal gender recognition and said the national LGBT strategy has not been fully carried out. The 2025 march was on 4 October under the slogan 'Resistance Builds Freedom'.
The 14th Montenegro Pride was held in early October 2026 under the slogan 'We will live, for the sake of life'. It walked from the Government building to Argentina Square. We couldn't confirm the exact day or an attendance figure. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
