What reviewers say

Visitors praise De Trut for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, cheap drinks, and the freedom to be yourself, with many enjoying the underground vibe and the no-phone policy. However, some mention the venue can get hot, and there are concerns about jacket theft and staff handling of secured items.

About this place De Trut

De Trut is an Amsterdam institution that refuses to become one: a queer disco in the basement of a former squat on the Bilderdijkstraat, run entirely by volunteers since 1985, open exactly one night a week — Sunday. The rules are part of the charm: doors open at 22:00 and close when the room is full (queue early), entry and drinks cost next to nothing, photography is banned, and the profits fund LGBTQ+ projects through the Trut Fonds. The dance floor is sweaty, mixed and gloriously unbothered by trends. For a certain kind of night — no bottle service, no guest lists, just queers dancing — there is nothing else like it in the city. Sundays only; arrive before 22:30 or expect to wait.

We need more clubs like this in Amsterdam. The atmosphere is really amazing! It would be 100 times better if there was a subwoofer though💯

I went there with friends to have fun. People mentioned to be careful with the jackets because they might get stolen. Friends recommended to bring a paddle lock to secure our jackets. We brought and secured them. The staff cut part of our jackets and left them on the floor. When my friend was leaving she found her jacket on the floor, and she complained to the staff who called her rude for locking her jacket. Well, my friend found her jacket cut on the floor. I didn’t find mine, it got stolen. I only found my lock hanging there.

I was there for the first time and... Perfect club, great atmosphere, people dancing—and most importantly, everyone can be who they want to be. ☺️ Your big fun DJ DOMINIQUE-CD. Kisses. 💋💋
