Unbearable heat, no air conditioning, no fan, and no way to open the window. An oven.

Location is convenient. Staff is friendly. However, there was a group of people (highschool students) being terribly noisy and rude, yelling, running around, swearing at me, and nothing was done. I understand this is not entirely the hostel's responsibility, but it literally continued throughout the night. It went on until 3am and then started again from 5am. In addition, I've never slept in a room with such a high temperature. It was suffocating. Unfortunately, not a good experience for me. Would not recommend staying here in summer, and to check beforehand whether your room is in the middle of large group of high school students.

The rooms are cramped and lack air conditioning; the windows can't be opened, there's no fan, the walls are paper-thin, and they get direct sunlight all day. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is centrally located and clean, but don't come in the summer if there's no air conditioning.

Room 501 was infected with mosquitos. It's unlikely for me to have gotten bitten elsewhere because I otherwise wear long sleeves outside.

Stayokay is a really clean and modern hostel with stylish furnishings, a 24-hour reception, an attached restaurant, and is located right in the heart of the old town. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom, which, from the walk-in shower to the adjustable mirror, is designed to be completely accessible. The beds are sturdy and comfortable, and there's a lockable luggage rack for everyone (bring a padlock if you don't have a private room). The only drawback, which was a real nuisance this weekend, was that none of the windows could be opened. The ventilation system did its best, but it only provided us with very warm, albeit fresh, air. Unfortunately, after a day of 32°C (90°F) that ended with a refreshing thunderstorm, we couldn't take advantage of the fact that the outside air had cooled down to 18°C (64°F). These windows were a real nuisance. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage before check-in, and you could get an extra bath towel for a reasonable €2. There was a water dispenser in the lobby, and vending machines selling drinks and snacks were located throughout the hostel. Regarding the location: Even with luggage, you can comfortably walk from the train station to the hostel in under 15 minutes. If you like, you can even walk part of the way through the air-conditioned mall, then past the beautiful Oudegracht canal, the large library, and the lively market square where the hostel is located. Directly south of the hostel, the Oudegracht winds its way through the beautiful old town. It's teeming with so many shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars that you hardly know where to begin. What's particularly cool is that the canal, which is one level below street level, is lined with old warehouses and a walkway just above the water. These old warehouses now house various restaurants and clubs, creating a very special atmosphere. But north of the hostel there is also a cozy street with a great record shop, several stylish cafes and restaurants, second-hand shops, museums, small supermarkets and much more.

There was no air conditioning or fan, so it was VERY hot. Otherwise, a fine hotel!
