Gay Cruising in Warsaw: The Honest 2026 Guide

Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and local and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change

Warsaw at night is a city of contrasts you can see from one street corner. The spire of the Stalin-era Palace of Culture and Science glows above the glass towers around Rondo ONZ; a few blocks away, the red-brick halls of Hala Mirowska sell flowers, pickles and smoked cheese by day. Locals warm up over a bowl of żurek (sour rye soup) or a plate of pierogi in a bar mleczny, the cheap, canteen-style "milk bar", then move on to cocktails in a courtyard bar, or a szarlotka, Żubrówka bison-grass vodka topped with apple juice, which tastes like apple pie. Poland's capital has the country's biggest gay scene, and its cruising side is compact: one late-night cruise bar with a large darkroom and three gay saunas, all within walking distance of each other on the western edge of the centre. Several older venues have closed, so here's what is open in 2026.

Legal in one line: sex between men has been legal in Poland since 1932, with an equal age of consent of 15, but same-sex couples have no legal recognition. In 2026 Parliament passed a law creating a registered "closest person" status for couples (Sejm on 29 May, Senate on 25 June), and President Karol Nawrocki vetoed it on 17 July 2026. Cruise bars and saunas are legal, private venues; sex or nudity in public is not.

The cruise bar

Instytut · ul. Prosta 2/14

Warsaw's main dedicated cruise venue, a few minutes' walk from Rondo ONZ metro (line M2). It's a gay bar with a cocktail bar and a relaxed lounge, plus what Travel Gay describes as a darkroom of about 200 m² and changing rooms for dress-code nights; reviewers place the busiest action in the basement on Saturday nights. The calendar rotates through themed nights: listings mention cocktail Mondays, a naked Tuesday, an underwear party on Thursdays, and sports, harness, sneakers, puppy and fetish parties, some with a strict dress code. Check its website or social media for the week's programme before you dress.

It opens at 20:00 every night and stays open until 06:00 on Friday and Saturday nights; weekday closing is listed as 03:00 or 05:00 depending on the source, and one visitor notes it can start winding down around 3am when it's quiet. 2026 reviews describe packed Friday and Saturday nights (including Pride weekend in June), quiet weekdays with fewer than 20 people, and a spacious, clean venue; complaints are about the music mix and, from one former regular, less welcoming staff. Visitors in the past have said condoms and lube weren't always available in the dark areas, so bring your own. Reviewers also mention a combined "twin ticket" with Heaven sauna; ask at the door, as we couldn't confirm it.

Lodi Dodi · ul. Wilcza 23 (check it's open)

A small gay bar on three levels in the city centre: a ground-floor bar for talking, video rooms, and a basement darkroom. One directory lists Friday and Saturday as men-only nights. Opening hours differ between sources (from 19:00, closing anywhere from midnight to the early hours), and we couldn't find a dated 2026 source confirming its programme, so check its Instagram before going.

Bizarriusz (unconfirmed)

misterb&b lists Bizarriusz, which calls itself an adult cinema and erotic club, at Hoża 41, with the unmarked entrance and buzzer around the corner on Poznańska 16: a sex shop with a video room, cruising areas and theme parties, for a mixed crowd that is popular with gay men. We couldn't confirm its 2026 hours or status; treat it as a maybe.

The saunas

For most visitors, the saunas are the heart of Warsaw cruising. Three are open, all west of the Palace of Culture between Rondo ONZ and Hala Mirowska. Prices aren't published reliably online, so check at the door; bring cash as a back-up to your card.

Sauna The Fire · ul. Twarda 44

The newest of the three, described by misterb&b as the city's largest, at over 380 m² near Rondo ONZ. It has a large dry sauna, a wet sauna with a rain shower, a steam room, a labyrinth with darkrooms, a smoking room, a bar and massage, and reviewers also mention a jacuzzi. Travel Gay (updated August 2026) lists it as open daily from 17:00 to 02:00, and until 08:00 on Friday and Saturday nights, with half price for two on Mondays ("Double Friend Day") and a naked party on Tuesdays. Late-2025 reviews praise the cleanliness, friendly staff and value, with queues on busy nights; Sundays are quieter. Phone +48 22 127 36 11.

Heaven Sauna · ul. Waliców 13

A smaller sauna in Mirów, between the Central Station and Rondo ONZ, with a dry sauna, a steam room, private cabins, a darkroom, a TV room, a bar and massage. Travel Gay lists it as open from 14:00 to 03:00 Monday to Thursday, shorter on Fridays, and around the clock on Saturdays and Sundays, with an after-party on Saturdays and occasional themed nights. A December 2025 reviewer called it "small, nice, and casual" and very clean, with English-speaking staff; older reviews mention cramped cabins and a small play area. Phone +48 22 620 0255.

Klub Sauna Galla · ul. Ptasia 2 (entrance from Przechodnia)

Running since the mid-1990s and widely described as the oldest gay sauna in Warsaw, Galla spreads over three floors a short walk from Hala Mirowska: a dry sauna, a steam room, a bar, two video rooms, relaxation rooms, a dark cruising area and a smoking room. Queer.pl lists it as open from 14:00 to 23:00, and until 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays (other listings give a 12:00 start at weekends). It's men-only from Monday to Saturday; Sundays are mixed and open to couples. Weekend aroma sauna sessions are a fixture (one was on 10 October 2026). Reviews praise the discretion and friendly staff, while others find the equipment basic and the crowd mostly older. Phone +48 22 652 19 86.

Closed or no longer operating:

    • codeRED, Twarda 7 (entrance from Mariańska): the cruise and fetish bar that opened in 2013 is marked permanently closed by GayCities and closed by Travel Gay, whose last visitor review is from July 2023.
    • Bunkier, Białostocka 5, Praga: the cruise club near Dworzec Wileński is reported closed by Travel Gay; its last visitor review dates from January 2020.
    • Fantom, Bracka 20a: this older cruising venue is listed as closed by misterb&b.

    Why there's no outdoor list

GayOut doesn't list parks, riverbanks or public toilets in Warsaw, on purpose. Under Article 140 of Poland's Code of Petty Offences (Kodeks wykroczeń), anyone who publicly commits an "indecent act" (nieobyczajny wybryk) can be punished with a fine of up to 1,500 złoty, a restriction of liberty, short arrest or a reprimand, and sex or nudity in a public place falls squarely under it. City parks are patrolled by police and the municipal guard (Straż Miejska), and robberies and homophobic harassment at night are real risks. With a cruise bar and three saunas open late in the centre, there's no reason to take the chance.

    Practical tips

    • Getting there: Rondo ONZ (metro line M2) puts you within walking distance of Instytut, The Fire and Heaven; Galla is a short walk north, by Hala Mirowska. After the metro closes, use the night buses (their numbers start with N, and most leave from the Central Station, Dworzec Centralny, a short walk from all three saunas, every 20 to 60 minutes) or a ride-hailing app (Bolt, Uber or FreeNow), which are cheap and easy here.
    • Timing: Instytut fills up after midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The saunas are busiest in the evening and on weekend nights.
    • Doors and intercoms: many Warsaw venues are inside courtyards or behind unmarked doors with a buzzer (domofon). Look for the number, not a sign: find the keypad by the gate (brama) into the courtyard, dial the number you've been given and wait for the buzz.
    • Before and after: for a cheap, warming meal, do as Varsovians do and eat in a bar mleczny: Bar Prasowy on Marszałkowska, running since the 1950s, serves żurek and pierogi at canteen prices. Late at night, the snack of choice is a zapiekanka, half a baguette baked with mushrooms and cheese and finished with ketchup, from a street hatch.
    • Valuables: use the lockers. Older reviews of more than one sauna mention money going missing; don't leave cash in your clothes.
    • Apps: Grindr is the main app in Poland, Romeo is popular with locals over 30, and Sniffies is used for real-time cruising. Many profiles are discreet; respect that. Meet in a public place first, and be wary of anyone who pushes to change plans or asks for money, as dating apps are sometimes used to set up robberies.
    • Money: Poland uses the złoty (PLN). Cards and BLIK are widely accepted, but carry some cash for the door.
    • Health: free, anonymous HIV testing is available at consultation and diagnostic points (Punkty Konsultacyjno-Diagnostyczne). If a condom breaks, PEP must start within 72 hours: go to an infectious diseases hospital or an emergency department (SOR). Lambda Warszawa, the city's long-running LGBTQ+ association, runs a support line and can point you to services.
    • Chemsex: drugs and GHB turn up in cruising scenes everywhere; never mix GHB with alcohol, and look out for each other.

    Pride and events

The Parada Równości (Equality Parade) is Warsaw's Pride march, held in June. In 2026 it took place on Saturday 13 June: the Miasteczko Równości (Equality Village) of stalls opened in Park Świętokrzyski at 11:00, and the march set off at 14:00 from beneath the Palace of Culture and Science, looping through Krakowskie Przedmieście, Miodowa, Senatorska and Marszałkowska, with a stop at the Presidential Palace to read the community's demands. Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski led it. The 2027 date hadn't been confirmed by the organisers at the time of writing. Year-round, the QueerMuzeum on Marszałkowska runs exhibitions, tours and talks.

For a drink before Instytut, the bars and cafés around Plac Zbawiciela and nearby Hoża and Mokotowska streets, south of the centre, draw a young, liberal, mixed crowd on summer evenings; they're not gay bars, but they're relaxed. For dedicated bars and dance clubs before or after the saunas, see our Warsaw gay bars guide.

Frequently asked questions

Where can gay men cruise in Warsaw?

Indoors, mostly in a small cluster of venues around Rondo ONZ in the city centre. Instytut, at Prosta 2/14, is a late-night gay bar with a large darkroom and themed nights, and three gay saunas are within walking distance: The Fire (Twarda 44), Heaven (Waliców 13) and Galla (Ptasia 2). Lodi Dodi on Wilcza is a smaller bar with a basement darkroom; check it's open before you go.

Which gay sauna in Warsaw is best for cruising?

It depends on the night. The Fire is described as the newest and biggest, with dry and wet saunas, a steam room and a darkroom labyrinth, and it stays open until 08:00 on Friday and Saturday nights. Heaven is smaller and is listed as open around the clock at weekends. Galla, running since the mid-1990s, is the old-school choice, men-only except on Sundays. Hours change, so check before you go.

Are codeRED and Bunkier still open?

No. codeRED on Twarda is marked permanently closed by GayCities and Travel Gay, and Bunkier in Praga is reported closed, with no visitor reviews since early 2020. Fantom on Bracka, an older cruising venue, has closed too. Today, Instytut and the saunas are where Warsaw's cruising happens.

Is outdoor cruising legal in Warsaw?

No. Sex or nudity in a public place can be punished in Poland as an 'indecent act' (nieobyczajny wybryk) under Article 140 of the Code of Petty Offences, with a fine of up to 1,500 złoty, a restriction of liberty or short arrest. Parks are patrolled, and night-time robbery and homophobic harassment are real risks. GayOut lists no outdoor spots; use the bars, saunas and apps instead.

When is the Warsaw Equality Parade?

In June. The 2026 Parada Równości took place on Saturday 13 June, setting off at 14:00 from beneath the Palace of Culture and Science and looping through the centre past the Presidential Palace, with Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski at the front. Expect the saunas and Instytut to be at their busiest that weekend.
