Lambda Warsaw

Lambda Warszawa, founded in 1990, is the oldest continuously operating LGBTQ+ organisation in Poland and one of the founding institutions of the post-communist Polish queer movement. From its premises on Żurawia street it runs a support helpline, counselling services, support groups and community events for LGBTQ+ people from across the country. For visitors, Lambda is the entry point to Warsaw's community beyond the nightlife: its calendar includes discussion groups, cultural events and volunteer opportunities, and its staff can point you toward whatever corner of queer Warsaw you are looking for. The organisation's three decades of continuous work - through every phase of Poland's complicated LGBTQ+ politics - make it one of the most significant institutions of its kind in Central Europe. Note that the annual Equality Parade (Parada Równości) is organised by the Volunteers of Equality Foundation rather than Lambda, though the organisations work in the same ecosystem. Lambda's own strength is services and community support.
