Gay Bars & Clubs in Bucharest
Bucharest's LGBTQ+ nightlife is smaller than in Western European capitals, but its core is dependable and centred on the Old Town (Centrul Vechi). Below are the dedicated gay venues and the gay-friendly spots worth knowing.
Dedicated Gay Venues
Q Club
Q Club bills itself as the biggest gay club in Bucharest - and in Romania. Expect dance floors, loud electronic and pop music and a lively crowd, busiest on Friday and Saturday nights. It is the place to go for a full club night.
Thor's Hammer Gay Bar
On Strada Blanari in the Old Town, Thor's Hammer is one of the city's established gay bars, open since 2017. It has a large outdoor terrace and themed evenings, including a midweek bear night, and draws a mix of locals and visitors. It is more of a bar than a club - good for drinks and conversation.
IUB Bar
Also on Strada Blanari, IUB Bar (formerly Boys Bar) is a friendly bar-club offering karaoke, shows and drag-style nights. It is a relaxed, community-focused spot that stays open late at weekends.

Control Club
A veteran alternative and electronic club near Piata Universitatii, Control Club is firmly gay-friendly and a regular host of queer nights, particularly around Bucharest Pride in June.
Gay Sauna
Soho (Sauna Soho) near Piata Unirii is the only dedicated gay sauna in Bucharest - and, by most accounts, in Romania. It is men-only, with wet and dry saunas, a jacuzzi, relaxation areas and a bar, open until the early hours.
Tips for a Night Out
Most venues cluster in or near the Old Town, so you can walk between them. Nights get going late and weekends are busiest. Bolt and Uber are cheap for getting home. Bucharest's central areas are welcoming, but as elsewhere in Romania, save public displays of affection for clearly LGBTQ+ spaces.
