No — same-sex marriage is not currently recognised in Romania. Decrim: partial 1996, full repeal of Article 200 in 2001 (EU accession). Equal age of consent (16). No same-sex marriage (Civil Code art. 277) or civil partnership; the 2018 constitutional-ban referendum failed on low turnout; ECHR Buhuceanu v. Romania (2023) found a violation for the lack of any recognition. Single-person adoption only. Anti-discrimination on sexual orientation via Ordinance 137/2000 (CNCD). EU member since 2007; ranked lowest among EU states by ILGA-Europe.
