Mercure Aberdeen Caledonian Hotel

Service was lovely, room was upgraded and very clean. A little bit of corridor noise but nothing to be unexpected with an older building. Overall really pleasant stay in a fantastic location. The welcome complimentary snacks were a lifesaver and delightful.

Old and dirty hotel

Good stay with helpful and friendly people at Mercure. Breakfast is fine and of good quality. We also had dinner at Mercure and were very satisfied with that as well.

The hotel is a bit dated, but it has charm and character... clean rooms, good service, friendly staff.

We have stayed twice at this hotel, last year we were at the front overlooking the gardens and parts of the city it was great. No noise from wine bar opposite and traffic quietens down a lot at night and we never really had a problem especially as we stay in the country, this year we were at the rear and again no noise and both rooms had black out curtains and double glazing. Very central for entertainment and shopping.

Having arrived at the hotel at 3.30pm on a warm day in March I opened the door to the room to be welcomed by a wall of heat. The radiator had been left fully on which I switched off. The window was a sash but wouldn't stay open. I switched on the mobile "air con" cooling fan but when I returned to my room well after midnight the room was still to hot. I had to have the cooling fan on all night as if I switched it off the room became unbearably hot again. The cooling fan made such a noise that I didn't get much sleep ahead of my early start the next morning. It was only in the morning that I noticed the electric towel rail was also switch on and pumping out heat into the room. The shower only had a screen that covered a foot of the bath so the toilet floor flooded every time you took a shower. If the room hadn't have been so hot I would have given a good review. Please leave radiators off for guests in future. It's much easier to heat a room than to cool it.

Had stayed here for going to see Sue Perkins Live Show at the Music Hall around the corner on the Main Street great service couldn't fault the staff nor the food dinner we had on first night was tasty breakfast was amazing lots to choose from hot and cold food available no so much cereal available maybe weetabix my favourite wasn't here does it matter no bar okay no draft beer, lager, ale, cider only Becks available no Stella, no Thatchers Gold, no Guinness or Camden Ale only bottles whxh I thought could of been more stocked. Rooms where clean enough to enjoy bathroom clean only issue was the tap in bath snapped off when using bathtub taps/shower taps are far too close to the wall obviously got caught was fixed the next day after reporting it to reception all in all good time away.
