Merlinka International Queer Film Festival
About This Event
The Merlinka International Queer Film Festival happens every December in Belgrade, Serbia. It's been showing LGBTQ+ films from all over since 2009.
You'll find short films, documentaries, and features. Screenings usually run at places like the Jugoslovenska Kinoteka (Yugoslav Cinematheque). They also have side programs—Queer Documentaries, Queer Featured Films, and Retrospectives—plus awards for the best movies.
This isn't a for-profit festival. The Gay Lesbian Info Centre (GLIC) puts it on with the Belgrade Youth Center. Their goal is to push LGBT rights and culture through art. Crowds vary a lot, from 2,000 to 10,000 people daily. We don't have the exact December 2026 dates yet, but Merlinka consistently offers a crucial platform for queer film in the Balkans.
